29.11.2011 | November 28, 2011 - the 6th Conference 'Impact of legal practice on business development in the Republic of Belarus' was held in Minsk
This conference is traditionally organized by the Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Belarus, public association 'Belarusian Republican Union of Lawyers' & LRS 'UrSpectr'.

From 'Vlasova, Michel and Partners' law firm were such speakers as Senior partner - Lilia Vlasova, Head of the Conflict Resolution Center of the Belarusian Republican Union of Lawyers (subject 'Trends in the empowerment of legal protection of economic agents in 2012: mediation, arbitration courts') and Partner - Olga Grechko (subject 'Resolution of disputes arising from the execution, performance and termination of lease agreements of real and personal property'). Also at the conference were Managing partner - Konstantin Mikhel, Senior associates: Vasiliy Volozhinets & Mikalai Markounik, Associate - Kira Bondareva.

During the Conference were enlightened such reports as: -Resolution of disputes arising from the execution, performance and termination of lease agreements of real and personal property; -Claims procedure, foreclosure expenses, incurred by economic agents in connection with a dispute about the performance of the contract in the economic court (state tax, cost of legal aid); -Resolution of disputes, arising during the negotiation and implementation of export-import contracts and legal relationships arising from investment contracts; -Investment timing, timing of investment projects, duration of the investment agreement in construction; -Settlement of economic disputes involving tax and customs authorities & the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus; -Disputes, concerning the economic society management and settlement of major transactions by economic agents & their affiliates; -Common issues and litigation, associated with the timing and quality of construction, construction calculations. Among other things, participants of the Conference learned about trends in the empowerment of legal protection of economic agents in 2012: mediation, arbitration courts.

New knowledge will help economic agents to predict their own decisions and thereby avoid possible wrong steps in carrying out of activities.

Nomination for the prestigious British Legal Awards reflects the outstanding professional level of the CIS Leading Counsel Network (CIS LCN), a pan-CIS network of the leading law firms that demonstrated their excellence advising on the Danone-Unimilk merger.

The British Legal Awards, hosted by a leading British publication Legal Week, set out to recognise the achievements of those law firms, teams and individuals who have performed most successfully during the last year. The shortlist and winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges made up of in-house lawyers, managing and senior partners and other senior business figures.

Together with other law firms, Vlasova, Mikhel & Partners (Belarus) provided cross-border legal advice in the course of the Danone – Unimilk merger. Other members of the CIS LCN, namely Kalikova & Associates (Kyrgyzstan), Turcan Cazac (Moldova) and Ameria (Armenia) were also involved in the transaction providing merger control and compliance check in the respective jurisdictions.

01.11.2011 | The winner of the prestigious "Best Legal Departments Awards" (2011) was awarded by Konstantin Mikhel - Managing partner of Vlasova Mikhel & Partners law firm - in the category of "Investment Banking and Companies"
28 October 2011 - Award ceremony for winners of the International competition "Best Legal Departments - 2011" was held at the Renaissance Monarch Hotel. This award is given by the "Corporate Lawyer" journal & Wolters Kluwer company.

The Expert Council of this Competition is formed on the principle of 'best of the best' choice. Its members are leaders of legal departments, including winners of the previous year (2010), as well as partners of leading law firms.

This year, the company "Vlasova, Michel and Partners" was represented by Michael Konstantin. In the ceremonial atmosphere he awarded the winner in the category of "Investment Banking and Companies."

22.09.2011 | CIS Leading Counsel Network (LCN) to Act as the CIS Partner of International Awards Best Legal Departments – 2011

On October 28, 2011 the Renaissance Monarch Hotel in Moscow will host an awards ceremony of the International Awards Best Legal Departments – 2011. This year CIS Leading Counsel Network (LCN), a network bringing together leading law firms in the CIS, will act as the contest’s partner representing the CIS.

The Best Legal Departments – 2011 is an annual contest organized by leading legal publication The Corporate Lawyer and Wolters Kluwer. It assesses the work of legal departments in various categories. Over the past six years the contest has become the most prestigious professional award in the legal community. This year the contest will be attended not only by Russian nominees but also companies from the CIS countries.

The winners will be selected by the Expert Board members consisting of heads of legal departments, including last year’s winners, and partners from the CIS leading law firms.

18.08.2011 | On 18 August 2011 a legal forum “Share circulation: possibilities and limitations” took place in Minsk at the hotel “Victoria” organized by the magazine “Trade and Industrial Law”.

Within the framework of this event participants discussed novelties on the regulations of transactions with shares. The senior associate of “Vlasova Mikhel & Partners” expressed his own opinion by delivering a report regarding peculiarities of share circulation in the closed joint-stock companies and difficulties on estimation of cost for share sale.
